As we settle in ready to welcome family and friends for the Christmas holiday, we wanted to give some gentle reminders on safe candle usage. Our wish is that you enjoy the warmth and togetherness that comes with the season and are so happy that our candles have been chosen to be a part of that special time. Though beautiful, the use of candles also comes with the responsibility of caring for them properly to enhance your experience. Before burning your candles, inspect the vessel for cracks, or defects. Adding heat to a vessel that is in a weakened state can cause the candle to shatter. Trimming your wick to 1/4 in for cotton and between 1/8 and 3/16 in for wooden wicks is the standard recommendation before you burn. This will prevent sooting, sparks, and an overall unpleasant experience. Burn no more than 4 hrs at a time. We get so caught up with the merriment that we may forget this important step. Keep you candles away from active children and pets, a fair distance from billowy curtains or drafts, and free from flammable surfaces. Keep it in your sight at all times, candles get lonely and need constant supervision! Your candles glow is soothing and relaxing but it’s not a night light. Put your candle to bed (extinguish) before you go to sleep. Once you candle gets to the last 1/2 inch of wax, extinguish it. Burning your candle down to the quick will cause your vessel to over heat and your wick to dislodge and migrate to the edge of the glass. Heat plus glass can cause the jar to explode. Overall, we just want all of our customers to have a safe and merry Christmas with your families. Our hope is that our candles will always bring you as much joy as we felt while making them. Merry Christmas, and if you don’t celebrate, Happy Holidays to you.
